Student Testimonials:

  • I've known Ted Mattison for over 20 years. His work as a stage and screen actor has been varied and challenging. As a director and actor coach, Ted is specific, honest, and encouraging to actors with whom he works. As a writer and producer, he has created challenging and evocative works on film and for the stage. He is a natural teacher, talented artist, and a warmly genuine human being. Acting training needs more like him.
Michael J. Arndt, Professor (Theatre Arts, California Lutheran University) and
Artistic Director (The Kingsmen Shakespeare Company) Actor (The Baby Dance)
  • From the moment I met Ted, he inspired me with his creativity and his need to challenge himself and others.  He directed me in one of the funniest shows I've ever done and pushed me to be as truthful and silly as I could be at the same time. He's so passionate and gives everything of himself into his work. Anyone who studies with him will grow as a performer more than they ever thought possible!
Marnie Alexenburg, Something About Mary, Barry Munday, Outward Blonde
  • Ted Mattison has years of experience in the business. I use “business” in the general sense, because Ted has experience as an actor, writer, director, AND filmmaker. This makes him uniquely qualified to teach those who are serious about their craft and serious about becoming a working actor. As a colleague, he has helped me with auditions, and given me invaluable advice about my own story telling. I’m incredibly appreciative of his insight, and the breadth of his knowledge.
Grinnell Morris, Scandal, Mad Men, Private Practice, Ted’s Theatre Kitchen
  • Seydways Acting Studios takes the mystery out of acting. Ted embodies Richard's technique, but what impressed me the most was that he is making a very good living as an actor and he has shared that with me. Every live event Ted has directed has lead me to work. Whether it was signing with a manager, a costar on 90210, or a pilot produced by the the producers of the Golden Globes, the net result was - his enthusiasm, care and perspective got me working! His main drive is to make well rounded professional actors that authentically express themselves as well as any material they are given, from a single line on a commercial or seven pages of Sorkin.
Chris Meehan, 90210, Black Box, Resonance of Love, Ted’s Theatre Kitchen
  • One might say it's his Midwest roots, his sensitivity to the arts or simply his activist mentality to fight for the goodwill of humanity that's made him such a powerful and savvy Director. I simply blame it on his convincing smile, that whatever he said I felt safe enough to explore the unknown under his guidance as my Director. Thanks, Ted for keeping me safe while stretching me to my capacity.
Lonnie Hughes, Elena Undone, Desperate Housewives, Mad Men, Broken Marine
  • I’ve had the great pleasure to direct, teach and collaborate with Ted. He’s an artist of inspiration and bravery and brings out the best in everyone around him.
Enrico Colantoni, Galaxy Quest, Contagion, Just Shoot Me, Flashpoint, Veronica Mars
  • Ted is a wonderfully passionate, creative, and caring person. His enthusiasm and commitment to the craft of acting is rare. He has a great eye and attention to detail. As a director, he is able to guide actors in a gentle and supportive way that gets you where you need to be to maximize your performance in the room, on stage, or in front of the camera. He genuinely wants success for everyone. Ted has been in the business for twenty years and his experience on set and in the casting offices is invaluable information for any actor at any stage of your career. He will go above and beyond to help you get to the next level no matter what your goal might be. Ted is seasoned in all different types of genres from T.V. dramas, sitcoms, Shakespeare, commercials, and everything in between. He has a lot of insight, not only on the craft of acting, but on the business side as well. There is no doubt that having Ted Mattison on your side will only help you get where you need to go. Definitely take his class - you will not regret it!
Ariel Hart, All About Evil, Resonance of Love, Substance Abuse
